Pumped Cavity Insulation

pumped cavity insulation

Most houses built between 1970 and 2004 will have some level of wall insulation. However, compared to houses constructed under today’s standards, they will perform very poorly in terms of energy efficiency and heat retention. This is particularly true in older houses where the insulation board was carelessly cut and fitted. Having said that however, some newer houses may only have sheets of aeroboard in the cavity and these houses would benefit greatly from being pumped with Ecobead Platinum. A grant of €320 is also available from the SEI under the HES scheme. Please go to www.sei.ie/hes for more information.

The Procedure:
Small injection holes are drilled in the external walls, insulation beads are then injected under 120lbs of pressure. This forces the existing board tight against the inner leaf and completely fills the remainder of the cavity. Thermal improvement of up to 300% can be achieved using this method.
